Discussing South Dakota v. Wayfair: Brill on CNBC’s ‘Closing Bell’

On CNBC’s ‘Closing Bell,’ Alex Brill discusses the US Supreme Court’s ruling in South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc. to require out-of-state sellers to collect the same sales tax that in-state resellers must collect.

“I think there is a modernization that came down from the Supreme Court today. A recognition that the internet is a large part of our economy and is important as a matter of fairness, as a matter of good economic principle to pursue what I call a level playing field. We shouldn’t have a subsidy on any type of seller over another seller. While this is sometimes being characterized today as good news for the brick and mortar guys, what really is important is no one is given a preference.”
