Alex Brill Speaks on Consequences of Proposed PBM Constraints
In December, MGA CEO Alex Brill participated in a RealClearPolitics event looking at the negative consequences of limiting the business practices of pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs):
“PBMs are driving efficiency in the system through scale and expertise to lower the prices of drugs,” Brill said. “As you take away the tools and the incentives for PBMs, they might not do as well at driving down prices in the future. . . . There will be winners and losers from that. The winners would likely be the drug manufacturers, and the losers would likely be the employers, who get higher premiums.”
